Slow Fashion Finds
Journey of an over-consumer learning how to become a conscious consumer.
What are my goals?
-
Quality over quantity
Cost per wear, or taking the cost of an item and dividing it by the number of times it’s worn, has become a trend in determining whether an item is ‘worth the money.’ This blog aims to track the number of wears per item as it pertains to the question “was this an impulse buy?” to be more mindful and help limit the amount I’m purchasing.
Goal: Become more mindful; stop impulse purchases. -
Pre-loved and vintage
Often times ‘spring cleaning’ can result in an urge to rid all the clutter, old styles, or ill-fitting clothing as swiftly as possible, and with little thought as to where that clothing ends up. This blog aims to explore how to sustainably clean out your closet and the best places to source new ones. Shameless plug: follow me on Poshmark.
Goal: Buy and sell clothes via trusted sources.

Shopping sustainable brands
Let’s be honest, sustainability has become a buzzword. These days, it’s hard to tell which brands or items are actually sustainably made and which ones are a product of greenwashing. This blog will utilize websites like Good on You to track ratings tied to planet, people, and animals.
Goal: Discover which brands are actually sustainable.
About Me
Much of the fashion industry encourages over-consumption. Clothing-hauls, ‘outfits of the day’, and seasonal trends, promote and justify purchasing new items at a scale that makes clothing seem disposable.
Personally, I’m more than guilty at falling for the swipe-up links, and the more I consume influencer, creator, or brand content, the more I validate my purchases. On a typical week, there is more than one package arriving at my apartment, ready to stuff into my closet or return for the next shiny new item. It can feel discouraging at times that I know I need to —and want to — change my habits, yet still haven’t been able to.
My aim with this blog is to find ways to learn more about my over-consumption habits and the fashion industry at large, in an effort to realistically become a sustainably-conscious consumer. And hey, maybe save some money (and the planet) in the process of doing so!
The goal is not to be perfect, but to skew towards the path of better decision making when it comes to my shopping habits - and I hope I can provide insight to others trying to do the same.
